Oka - Irons - My Country Tis' of Thy People You're Dying

A Pig in Every Home - Deep Integration

In March 1990 at Kanesatake
An absence of justice for the Mohawk people
Forced the hand of a peaceful community
To raise their fists in angry defiance

plan for progress by the township of Oka
Its mayor and council approved destruction of first nation's land
A plot hatched in secret in the 1950's
and the area was taken without restitution

A barricade was raised on the roadway by the first nation's people of Kanesatake
To halt the construction crews who intended to destroy their sacred lands
For the expansion of an existing golf course reserved for the privileged
A grotesque misuse of illegally obtained land

There was no due process in negotiations
The community's pleas were ignored
An order to cease and desist blocking construction
Was met by their unified refusal

The businesses and politicians of Oka
Cried for police intervention
Racists across the country protested
and demanded police intervention

so the barricade was approached and watched by officers
Called from surrounding areas in Quebec
They blocked food and supplies to the entire town
But the people of Kanesatake had reinforcements of their own
Members of a militant resistance group called the Warriors joined their cause
And brought weapons, trained soldiers and fierce determination

The town's plight inspired cooperation
Food was smuggled to them by the Micmac
Solidarity with the first nations was evident across the country
500 protestors rallied at St.. Paul in support
1000 people gathered at a park near Kanesatake to bolster morale
At the first sign of light on July 11th

The signal was sent and the police advanced
They fired weapons and launched smoke grenades
In a display of aggression to disband the resisters

4400 or more officers
2629 of them were troops
1144 military vehicles
Surrounded the community of Kahnasatake

On Sept. 1 without warning the police and military overran the barricade
The protestors mobilized to stop them and rioting ensued
Open fighting on the street with military, police and soldiers
Put an end to the barricade but far from ended this dispute

The remaining protestors retreated to a treatment center
Eventually the last protestors would be subdued
The Warriors escaped under radar in planes to fight another day
And so the military finally withdrew

But still many people were arrested in the aftermath We must not forget so their justice is served too

bound to destruction here we exist
too comfortable, too numb, too weak to resist
in our quest for knowledge we came to insanity
killing the earth for power and vanity

Murder came to us along the way
we questioned not those to blame
very clean he looked, yet grim
Seven bloodhounds followed him

fat from the life-source of their prey
Murder fed them day by day
one by one, and two by two
he tossed them human hearts to chew

next came Fraud, with his false smile
all were fooled by his tactful guile
we nurtured his existence accepted deceit
his clever mind wove our defeat

and the children, too innocent to know
round his feet played to and fro
we showed little care, there was no alarm
turned our backs and let them starve

clothed with the bible, as with light
and in the shadows of the night
like a serpent, next, Hypocrisy
the age old creed of the so called free

and many more destructions played
in this ghastly masquerade
their vile qualities in clever disguise
all respectable to common eyes

last came the cowardly leaders of the state
before their thrones we lay
those leaders bred a ghastly birth
and laid dead all life upon the earth

Hope lurked within this darkening hell
but for those who listened death befell
still She called for all to hear
in hope that truth would overcome fear

rise like lions after slumber
in unvanquishable number
shake your chains to earth like dew
which in sleep had befallen you
’ye are many ---- they are few.‘

what is freedom? ---- ye can tell
that which slavery is too well----
for its very name has grown
to an echo of your own.

it is to work and have such pay
as just keeps life from day to day
in your limbs as in a cell
for the tyrants use to dwell

so that you for them are made
loom, and plow, and sword, and spade,
with or without your own will bent
to their defense and nourishment.

My Country Tis' of Thy People You're Dying

now that your eyes have finally opened
are you wondering how they must feel?
those who you’ve called colorful, noble and proud
in your school propaganda books and spoken aloud
you never learned how they were starved in their splendor
you asked for my comment, here I will render

now that the long-houses breed superstition
you force us to send our children away
to schools where they’re taught to despise their traditions
you forbid them their languages, then further you say

that American history really began
When Europe set sail, then stress
that the nation of leeches that conquered this land
are the ones more civilized than all of the rest

and yet where in your history books is the tale
of the genocide basic to this country’s birth
of the preachers who lied, how the bill of rights failed
how a nation of patriots returned to their earth?

hear how the bargain was made for the west:
children dying of exposure in zero degrees
blankets for your land, so the treaties attest
blankets for land is a bargain indeed

and yet a few of the conquered have somehow survived
their blood runs the redder though genes have paled
from the Grand Canyon’s caverns to craven sad hills
the wounded, the losers, the robbed sing their tale

the past it just crumbled, the future just threatens
our life blood shut up in your chemical tanks
and now here you come, bill of sale in your hands
and surprise in your eyes that we’re lacking in thanks

for the blessings of civilization you’ve brought us
the lessons you’ve taught us,the ruins that you’ve wrought us --
see what our trust in America’s brought us

my country ‘tis of thy people you’re dying

the pride of the sires receives charity
we’re harmless and safe behind their laws
my life’s to be known as your “heritage”
even the graves have been robbed
our own chosen way is a novelty
hands on our hearts
we salute your victory
choke on your blue, white and scarlet hypocrisy
blind, ignorant nations is all that we see

that the eagles of war
whose wings lent you glory
they were never no more
than carrion crows
they pushed the wrens from their nests
and stole their eggs
a historical whitewash-- re-writing their story

the mockingbird sings it, it’s all that he knows
“what can I do?” say a powerless few
with a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye
their destruction is profiting you
their poverty’s profiting you

A Pig in Every Home

Civil liberties painstakingly fought for and won
Dismantled under a façade of ‘national security
Relinquishing laws that protect our privacy
A disregard for human rights; a failed democracy

Cameras on every street corner to survey the public
City streets under 24 hour surveillance
Police now decide what information may be disclosed
A monopoly of control with no accountability
The media claims people who don’t break laws
Will ‘feel safe’ under scrutiny
The right wing think tanks claim ‘criminals’
Can be identified visually

Employers can now record workers on camera without knowledge or consent
Employee behavior scrutinized by reviewing video documents
Employers can read employees’ emails and listen to phone calls
Employee life is micromanaged by invasive surveillance tactics

Police can now set up roadblocks without just cause or warrant
Immigrants without a license can be screened and deported
Roadblocks veiled as driving safety, pretext for accumulation of information
Regional licenses now reference a central database throughout the nation

Automated surveillance that can search for and identify a specific face
This technology exists and is used on the streets today

Cooperation with ‘security measures’: expanding their powers of control
Video documentation and audio recordings: to supplement corporate data
Electronic mapping devices to confirm a person’s movement
Enforced travel restrictions allowance for complete visual recall

Individual liberty; a concept of the past

Cop entries without warrant or consent
Email tracing, telephone taps
Terrorizing people of foreign descent
Special IDs, deportations and imprisonment

Fascistic initiatives to ensure power to the ruling caste

Infiltration / deportation / more cops / more jails
More lies / more crime / more poverty / more violence
Infiltration / deportation / more cops / more jails

The pigs in every home: a nightmare of control

Deep Integration

The Western Empire continues its ongoing holocaust
Military massacres and economics fused into deathlock
Enforcing a “free market” that supports the multinationals
Globalization: a race to ensnare the world’s resources

Using an undefined “terrorist” threat
To justify oppressive law and policy
This is the United Snakes new Cold War
Creating a climate of tension and anxiety

Sovereign nations forced into lockstep
Potential targets for economic structural adjustment
This is how the US threatens Canada and Mexico
As we near the final stages of total assimilation

A Canada-US economic strategy they call “Deep Integration”
The brainchild of that scum who brought Free Trade to this nation
These agents of exploitation advocate a vast rage of new measures
None of which serve the common people, only wealthy investors

The “Big Idea” a “Strategic Bargain”
Promising Canada “economic security”
In trade for Ballistic Missile Defense
And “Canadian Homeland Security”

The final deathblow for Canada, a pathetic puppet nation
Will we be prepared to fight extensive US exploitation?
A massive loss of civil rights and whatever’s left of our “sovereignty”
They'll take our liberty, our lives, our freedom

Ten years of NAFTA and fifteen of the bilateral FTA
Our puppet politicians have sold us all away
Starting with Mulroney and his cronies two decades ago
A money grab for the rich in exchange for US control
The beginning of the end for any progressive programs
The green light for the right and their exploitive institutions

Enhancing capital mobility by hamstringing governments
A necessary step in the transfer of power from workers to management
A transfer of power from public to market; from wages to profit
Under the guise of a “war on the deficit;” a negative social adjustment

Cuts to unemployment insurance, tax breaks for upper income groups
Ensures a rise in poverty, homelessness, prostitution, violent crime and police abuse
Health insurance, hospitals and prisons: all slated for privatization
Sold by the capitalists of this nation to US corporations

The undermining of progressive policies within society
A typical capitalist plan, the usual tactics and strategies
Canada is now for grabs, big business will define our reality
They’ll destroy the environment and have us all live in misery

We’re not patriotic; we’ll spit on the graves of all states
Such issues concern the environment we depend upon anda decent way of life
Under “continentalist” rule we’ll be servants of the Right
Diverse tactics and knowledge are necessary in order to win this fight.

Massacre of the Innocent
Blood-red banners united over the fields
Where a thousand innocent victims grieve.
Desperate populations, divided and conquered
A million graves hidden, beneath the fallen leaves

Step forth from the shadows to this cursed place
Bankers and thieves hungry for power.
Blood soaked soil, where you were born
Since the bastards set foot: filth, stench and war.

Their leaders wait above the celebration
Sending their thoughts to the dispossessed.
Who’s ivory face is beyond communication
With a corpse laden smile they accept his  caress.

As parasites and worms uphold a social peace
We ride past decay and destruction in the ditches.
Their sweet pretty flowers have corrupted the mass
While disease reeks from their rotting stitches.

Torn between servitude and eruption
A messenger arrives with a black nightingale.
Critical eyes trained on the palace of mirrors
Where cruel men construct our fairy tales.

The leaders  smiling behind closed doors
Turning deaf ears to the outraged cries.
They’ve betrayed their cause, turned their backs
Their death carrion rule from western skies.

The bones of the massacre
Are forever on their dinner plates
The violence of a resistant culture
Will be the terror they create.

That iron cross around their necks
Will drag the social order to its fate.
Burning fires, winds of change
Will blast their halls and clean the slate.

Dog soldiers will fetch their scraps
Down the bloody road of imperialist crime.
In empty halls where memory is protected
Ghost voices whisper from ancient times.

At twelve midnight the sun is breaking
Broken chains and fallen walls.
What measures will be taken?
When the graves are exposed and justice calls.

Tranquility and splendor on wheels of fire
Will bring us reward when the false idols fall.
Cruel death will rise and their pale ghosts  retreat
When the vultures they’ve roosted come home to call.

We don’t need your organization
We’ve moved your mountains and marked your cards
Now our hearts must have the courage
For the burning of the guards.

Prisoners of Conscience

Remember those people who live inside cages
Denied basic rights and no hope for parole.
Prisoners who gave their lives for revolution
Surrounded in silence, does anybody know?

Their family is gone, their friends are dead
Forced to concede they have no control.
They’re given no respect, their dignity stripped
Does anybody know?
In moral innocence, will they die alone?
will anybody know?

They’d seen the sign of truth out there
They let the people know
of mindless terror everywhere

Broken skin, broken bones
Tortured inside a cement cell
Where Nobody will know.

Developing pressure against United States Aggression.

The Face of Capital

One fact concerning capitalism which could be held as true
It has sold the mass of people a deep belief in its values
Americans defend state policy, regardless of cost or of peril
A million lives, a million lies to preserve their false ideals

Capitalism for most Americans is synonymous with democracy
Yet the bitter fight for civil-rights is written in our history
Any freedom we might enjoy was fought against brutal opposition
The men who opposed liberty are those who built this system
The wealthy population protects and nurtures its own class
Refusing to react responsibly: a historical habit of this caste
Far from defending America’s few hard-won rights
They threaten democratic process and freedom’s still out of sight

If capitalism was all that its defenders claim it to be
We would expect to find a truthful, moral, and ethical society
Far from that it’s cursed, with a blood-soaked history
Europe took an unspoiled continent and ravished without mercy

Methodical and deliberate destruction of first nations
Is still the haunting price of American ‘Civilization’’
The first slaves from Africa arrived in 1619
150 years before America became an independent colony
500 thousand slaves for a 3 million population
Multi generational slavery is how our forefathers built the nation
Exploitation, crime, and violence: the fabric of our society
Creating distrust, hate, and fear with a warped sense of morality

America spends billions forcing economic stations worldwide
Yet refuses to pay attention to the problems on their side
Vast sums of money channeled into a destructive war machine
Destroying lives in other countries: the mark of boundless greed

When material advantage lies at the heart of our philosophy
How can we expect anything different from what we see?
America holds 7 percent of the world’s population
America consumes 40 percent of the world’s production

No country has medical costs as high as those in the USA
No public health insurance in the richest country of the day
Why invest in slum clearing and decent housing for the poor
Accumulating wealth through exploitation can get the rich so much more
A fight against this system is no longer a choice we have to make
It’s us against them with the world’s future at stake.
A growing concern for our position in a future yet to be
Is the hope for radical change towards direct democracy.

Is this really the way you want your world to be?
It’s no wonder your children stopped listening.

False-hearted judges dying in the webs that they spin
Only a matter of time before night comes stepping in.

Canadian and American society has long used the corporate media to propagate its own self-righteousness. From
emphasizing the divide between social classes to manufacturing scapegoats for political and economic gain. Psychological
conditioning over a long period of time has led to two economically separated, yet ultimately conservative, sections of
society. The first section: a small percentage of wealthy individuals who run the private sector and maintain influence over
local politicians. This class pushes to undermine and control weakened third world countries through proxy regimes and
hit squads which support their capitalist structures; fashioning governments into corporate assets while openly neglecting
the everyday needs of the people. At the same time they’ll shamelessly blame the poor and underprivileged whenever any of
their so-called ‘economic crises’ arise. The second strata is comprised of the middle and lower classes who are often
manipulated into believing that our problems stem from loose immigration laws, foreign countries, and liberal political views.
Confused, scared, tired and frustrated they often label any criticism as ‘terrorist’  in accordance with the Bush
administration’s openly racist agenda. This sociopolitical/pathological climate is leading to our downfall, creating an egotistical
and cowardly culture which believes itself righteous and therefore free to brutally coerce the rest of the world. Global cop, global
